Cubist's stories

At Arm's Length: ReeceA month shy of its sixth anniversary, long-running webcomic At Arm's Length is actively moving to acquire support, in the form of a Patreon campaign.

Written by DarkWingDude (aka Equestrian Horse Wrangler) and drawn by Brooke Scovil, At Arm's Length focuses primarily on three women who are emigrants from a hidden society of four-armed magical beings. Our heroines, Ally (rabbit; specializes in illusions) Sheila (kangaroo; the most direct, forthright member of the trio) and Reece (fox; psychic and generally peculiar) appreciate the mortal world to the point where they put the smackdown on magical threats that mundane authorities simply cannot handle.

Those who choose to support the strip via Patreon can gain access to web badges and wallpapers available nowhere else, and can even introduce new characters with speaking parts.

Furry webcomic At Arm's Length will soon see its 500th strip uploaded for your viewing pleasure! To celebrate and commemorate the occasion, DarkwingDork (the writer) and Brooke Scovil (the artist) have decided to hold a contest for the strip's loyal readers: Create a character who could be a recurring guest-star in AAL. On the last day of 2011, the latest issue of ANTHRO — #32 — is uploaded and ready for your browsing pleasure! In honor of the season, this issue's cover image is a tastefully-colorized version of Lucius Appaloosius' classic ANTHRO CLAUS. And what (you may well ask) can be found behind that jolly old reindeer's portrait? Find out 'below the fold'!

After a thoroughly unscheduled hiatus of one year plus change, Anthro has returned to the internet. Zine-editor Quentin 'Cubist' Long promises that Anthro will continue to present "the good stuff", and that he has no intention of messing with a "successful, respected formula".

Issue 28 of Anthro is online for your reading pleasure. This issue is dedicated to the memory of Michael W. Bard, a regular contributor who served, at various times, as the 'zine's co-editor; columnist; and occasional reviewer. The cover image, Silvermane Maintenance by Cuprohastes, incorporates two of Bard's favorite motifs -- science fiction, and anthropomorphic equines -- and the issue's editorial is devoted to Bard.

The rest of this issue's contents include stories by Billymorph, Corvus & ShadowWolf, Phil Geusz, Bill ‘Hafoc’ Rogers, and Carmen Welsh; the third installment of Michael Bergey's novel New Coyote; an interview with WikiFur's Laurence ‘GreenReaper’ Parry; and a variety of other high-quality anthropomorphic material.

The furry netzine Anthro has just updated. More precisely, its 27th issue is now uploaded and ready to be browsed.

This issue's contents include a cover by Kitsune McKnight; the second installment of Michael Bergey's novel New Coyote; columns by Phil Geusz, Keith Morrison, and Wanderer Werewolf; and a variety of other high-quality anthropomorphic material.

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here with three (count 'em, three) special announcements. One of this trio of news items is about the latest issue of ANTHRO, of course, but I'll do the other two first, for reasons which should be clear when you read them. You see, ANTHRO Press has just published two new books...

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here, announcing yet another new issue of ANTHRO. Except that 'yet another' isn't quite accurate, because *this* issue is the zine's *twenty-fifth*! You can think of it as reaching the quarter-century mark, or four full years of existence plus the start of the fifth; either way, there just aren't a lot of furzines that can lay claim to the milestone of a 25th issue... but ANTHRO is now a member of that elite group!

Quentin 'Cubist ' Long here. Last week, I announced a special pre-order deal for THE FIRST BOOK OF LAPISM, by Phil Geusz... and I made a mistake. When I calculated the postage for this deal, I was counting the number of *pages* in the book... but what matters for postage is mass, and that means counting the number of *sheets of paper* in the book.
In other words, I overestimated how much it would cost to ship the thing to most places on the planet (US pre-orders will be shipped via Media Mail, hence aren't affected by my error).
Fortunately, this means I can cut the cost on FIRST BOOK OF LAPISM pre-orders... and that's what this here message is about!
