PETA claims Bible “discriminatory towards animals”
While the Bible may be one of the bestselling books of all time, it has its fair share of critics, from followers of other religions, to atheists stunned by the sheer brutality of the Old Testament, to those with little interest in endless lists of who begat who.
Now a fresh group is getting in on the Bible bashing, with the animal rights organisation People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals suggesting that Christianity’s holy text is “speciesist”.

Fursuiters are to feature on G4′s Attack of the Show at 7PM Eastern today, in a segment involving footage filmed a fortnight ago at Furry Weekend Atlanta 2011. [time tip: FNN] FWA’s decision to allow filming was controversial, with several dealers complaining that they were not informed of their involvement or given the option to opt-out. Operations director Kiran Lightpaw defended the convention’s choice, saying that G4 was covering ‘the activities of fursuiters’, not making ‘a general “furry convention” piece’: They shot hours of footage featuring nothing but fursuiters, primarily in a private shoot that took place on Saturday afternoon, and a total of about 30 minutes of footage elsewhere in the convention meant to be “B” roll footage, used in gaps or to set the mood. Kegasus – full-on “Party Manimal”
A year after the Maryland Jockey Club encouraged Baltimore to get its “Preak” on with a feather-ruffling advertising campaign for last year’s Preakness party, event organizers are turning to a spokes-centaur named “Kegasus” to generate interest in the 2011 Preakness InfieldFest, which is May 21 at Pimlico Race Course.
The Maryland Jockey Club announced today in a press release the launch of this year’s InfieldFest campaign, “The Legend of Kegasus,” which centers on a mythical creature that is half-horse and half-man — and a full-on “party manimal,” according to the release. Kegasus will be the voice of the campaign in all advertisements for television, radio and on the Internet, including YouTube and Twitter (www.twitter.com/allhailkegasus).

It’s a scene not uncommon to literature, one that may have provided the opening image for thousands of unpublished works by now. This resonates with people because nobody goes through life without experiencing a winter to thaw out of- it may be a figurative winter, a season in a lifetime, a trial of mood that is met and conquered. Or it might be literal, evincing the real struggle against cold, one that comes on as firm and definite a schedule as the neat grid of any calender would suggest. But you don’t face these winters without learning to recognize the coming of a fairer season.
On the Bright Beach will be that crisp view on the horizon, if you’ve been following our readings. Each story seemed a little more severe than the last. But if thousands of words of the pulpiest story we’ve featured yet doesn’t cheer you up- go outside and get a little sun.

She was dumped by a breeder in Ireland at just eight weeks after he realised she couldn’t hear – and was taken in by animal charity The Blue Cross.
Staff were worried no-one would want her because she could not respond to an owner’s calls.
But Alice has found her perfect match in couple Marie Williams, 41, and her partner Mark Morgan, 43 – who are both deaf.”

Aimed at the hundreds of thousands of people attending this summer’s UK festivals, the tails are a fun, furry accessory that people can clip onto the back of their clothing to add a little colour and frivolity to their outfit. Fancy dress now plays an important role in festival fashion, and a tail is a perfect way to participate without having to pack a complete costume.
Mary Jephcott, owner of Festival Tails said: “The tails concept happened by accident with a makeshift prototype at the Glade Music Festival in 2006. We then commissioned my Nan to make a few tails to wear and share at Burning Man Festival in Nevada, USA. As they were a big hit, in 2010 we decided to expand the idea, make more tails and see if we could bring some tail fun to some of our favourite UK festivals. Nan wasn’t keen to make 1000s of tails so it’s lucky we found Textiles by St Anne’s!”
Textiles by St Anne’s is part of the Birmingham Industrial Therapy Association (BITA Pathways), a charity specialising in rehabilitation services for adults experiencing mental ill health. For Mary it was the perfect opportunity, “We’re thrilled that our tails are being made locally, helping to train and provide therapy through work experience”.
Mary claims “Not only do the tails have aesthetic appeal; they have other advantages too … providing portable padded seating, enhancing attractiveness to the opposite sex and improving dance moves!” After a good reception at Festivals last year, the company is now expanding their 2011 product range to include ears, luxury tails and children’s tails.

The Permian Playhouse in Odessa, Texas has been struggling financially since late 2009. With the recent hit, “Suessical”, there are signs that the fortunes of the playhouse are turning around. They are pinning high hopes on Harvey.
Synopsis:
Elwood P. Dowd is an affable man who claims to have an unseen (and presumably imaginary) friend Harvey — whom Elwood describes as a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch tall pooka resembling an anthropomorphic rabbit. Elwood introduces Harvey to everyone he meets. His social-climbing sister, Veta, increasingly finds his eccentric behavior embarrassing. She decides to have him committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter Myrtle Mae and their family from future embarrassment.
When they arrive at the sanitarium, a comedy of errors ensues. The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out the search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. When Elwood shows up at the sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems that the mild-mannered Elwood’s delusion has had a strange influence on the staff, including Dr. Chumley and his medical partner Dr. Sanderson. Only just before Elwood is to be given an injection that will make him into a “perfectly normal human being, and you know what bastards they are!” (in the words of a taxi cab driver who has become involved in the proceedings) does Veta realize that she’d rather have Elwood the same as he’s always been — carefree and kind — even if it means living with Harvey.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund Alert posted here is potentially chilling for the Furry Fandom. If you collect furry art of an adult nature – be it adult solo, adult couples, or variants of cub art, if you are singled out to be searched by Customs, and the material is found, you can be detained until a “Subject Matter Expert” makes a ruling on the nature of the art. If he or she rules the art to be depicting child pornography, or even beastiality, you could be arrested.
Officers may encounter information “that requires referral to subject matter experts to determine whether the information is relevant to the laws enforced and administered by CBP.” Officers may make a copy of the material and seek subject matter assistance when they have reasonable suspicion of activities that would violate laws enforced by U.S. Customs.
The searches in question can include luggage, papers, laptops, cameras, tablets, ipods and any other type of data storage device or media. I know many furries who carry coppies of some of their favorite art on their smart phones, and their entire collection on their laptops.
This is not limited to crossing the US border by roadway. Any time you pass through Customs -through an airport or sea port, you can be searched.
This is the first time in US history that someone can be detained and possibly arrested for lines drawn on paper, something purely created from someone’s imagination and not a photograph.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund today published the advisory document “Legal Hazards of Crossing International Borders with Comic Book Art.” The advisory was created in response to an increasing number of reports from travelers who have been stopped, searched, and/or detained by customs agents because of comic book art they carried in print and electronic forms. CBLDF legal counsel Robert Corn-Revere prepared the advisory for the Fund’s constituents and members.
“Most people do not know that their constitutional rights are not guaranteed, even from U.S. Customs agents, when they cross international borders,” Corn-Revere said. “Their books, papers, laptop computers, and even cell phones are subject to routine search and possible seizure by the government, even without any suspicion of criminal activity. This is important to know in an age when many people carry with them a great deal of highly personal information in electronic form.”
The CBLDF’s advisory shines light on Immigrations and Customs Enforcement policies pertaining to the search of information, and also explains how border searches lack traditional legal protections otherwise afforded to speech. Finally, the document offers suggestions for avoiding intrusive border searches and protecting the safety of your information.

We are aware that this story is now over a week old. We were tipped about this story by SportyPup. After the outpouring of support he received from the community, he was trying to pay it forward and was working to get donations for “Kavi”. He was very disheartened to learn that this was an apparent hoax and that she was allegedly trying to use the disaster in Japan for personal gain.
Facts we currently have:
Arrianna Johnson also known as Kavi and Spankbank on FurAffinity has had her accounts suspended under suspicion of fraud. In her FA Journal, dated March 12, 2011, she stated that her home in japan had burned down from a gas tank explosion related to the tsunami. The following day, March 13, 2011, she states in her journal that her sister had died.

Right now, there are massive holes in the story. We have contacted Paypal for verification that fraud was reported and that they are treating it as such. We are still waiting for a response. We have also contacted several people who were involved in verifying the information in question. They have refused further information or involvement, or have referred us to other FA users. What we can say at this time is, BE CAREFUL. There are lots of people who prey on the generosity of others. The headlines are popping up all over the internet. Tuesday night, March 22, 2011, Shelby resident, Thomas Byers, says Bigfoot darted across the road in front of his car while he and his friend were traveling through the hills below South Mountains State Park.
He manages to capture about 5 seconds of footage on his cell phone.
Now, after just returning from a Furry convention, I have the suspicion that this could be a fursuiter. You decide. Bigfoot? Hoax? or Fursuiter?
