ANTHRO
ANTHRO continues to live!
Posted by Cubist on Sun 1 Jan 2012 - 10:24On the last day of 2011, the latest issue of ANTHRO — #32 — is uploaded and ready for your browsing pleasure! In honor of the season, this issue's cover image is a tastefully-colorized version of Lucius Appaloosius' classic ANTHRO CLAUS. And what (you may well ask) can be found behind that jolly old reindeer's portrait? Find out 'below the fold'!
The return of the revenge of ANTHRO!
Posted by Cubist on Sat 1 Oct 2011 - 02:24After a thoroughly unscheduled hiatus of one year plus change, Anthro has returned to the internet. Zine-editor Quentin 'Cubist' Long promises that Anthro will continue to present "the good stuff", and that he has no intention of messing with a "successful, respected formula".
'Anthro' comeback is announced
Posted by Fred on Thu 18 Aug 2011 - 00:33Quentin “Cubist” Long, editor/publisher of online literary magazine Anthro, has announced its comeback starting on 1 September with issue #31, September-October 2011:
IT LIVES! It seems that a lot of you have been under the impression that ‘Anthro’was dead. Pushing up daisies. An ex-netzine. And it’s true; given the evidence at hand, we have to admit that ‘Anthro’ certainly looked like it had assumed ambient temperature. What happened? A fair amount of personal stuff got in the editor’s way, much of which can be summarized as, ‘Man, that Real Life sure does suck sometimes, huh?
Fortunately, the suckage has stopped sucking. And that means the editor can get back to doing what he does so well – namely, producing new issues of ‘Anthro’. [cont.]
Anthro, with a mixture of fiction, poetry, comics, articles, columns, interviews, and editorials, appeared in thirty bimonthly issues from September-October 2005 to July-August 2010, then stopped updating without any word, although all issues have remained online. It was assumed to be dead, but Cubist now says that it was just dormant.
ANTHRO #28 is online
Posted by Cubist on Wed 28 Apr 2010 - 03:53Issue 28 of Anthro is online for your reading pleasure. This issue is dedicated to the memory of Michael W. Bard, a regular contributor who served, at various times, as the 'zine's co-editor; columnist; and occasional reviewer. The cover image, Silvermane Maintenance by Cuprohastes, incorporates two of Bard's favorite motifs -- science fiction, and anthropomorphic equines -- and the issue's editorial is devoted to Bard.
The rest of this issue's contents include stories by Billymorph, Corvus & ShadowWolf, Phil Geusz, Bill ‘Hafoc’ Rogers, and Carmen Welsh; the third installment of Michael Bergey's novel New Coyote; an interview with WikiFur's Laurence ‘GreenReaper’ Parry; and a variety of other high-quality anthropomorphic material.
Site update: ANTHRO #27 is online
Posted by Cubist on Wed 17 Feb 2010 - 01:19The furry netzine Anthro has just updated. More precisely, its 27th issue is now uploaded and ready to be browsed.
This issue's contents include a cover by Kitsune McKnight; the second installment of Michael Bergey's novel New Coyote; columns by Phil Geusz, Keith Morrison, and Wanderer Werewolf; and a variety of other high-quality anthropomorphic material.

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here with three (count 'em, three) special announcements. One of this trio of news items is about the latest issue of ANTHRO, of course, but I'll do the other two first, for reasons which should be clear when you read them. You see, ANTHRO Press has just published two new books...

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here, announcing yet another new issue of ANTHRO. Except that 'yet another' isn't quite accurate, because *this* issue is the zine's *twenty-fifth*! You can think of it as reaching the quarter-century mark, or four full years of existence plus the start of the fifth; either way, there just aren't a lot of furzines that can lay claim to the milestone of a 25th issue... but ANTHRO is now a member of that elite group!
New ANTHRO collection on sale!
Posted by Cubist on Tue 23 Sep 2008 - 12:05http://www.lulu.com/content/1860705 -- ANTHROlogy TWO!
Quentin Long here with the latest news about his furzine, ANTHRO: The 7th thru 12th issues -- ANTHRO's second year of existence -- is now available in paperback form. In other words, ANTHROlogy TWO is on sale! Buy this book, and more than 630 pages of furry ANTHRO goodness can be yours to read at any time of day or night, regardless of the state of your internet connection. And what's actually in those 630-odd pages? Glad you asked!

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here with a special announcement: ANTHRO #19 is online! Okay, this maybe isn’t all *that* special, what with the fact that it’s happened 18 times before... but considering how many other magazines have failed within their first year, it says something that ANTHRO has lasted *three* years plus change!
As per usual, I recommend that if you like ANTHRO, you should support it -- purchase ANTHRO art at [ href="http://www.zazzle.com/Cubist* ], or buy some of the great anthropomorphic books listed at [ http://anthrozine.com/site/support.books.1.html ], or even donate or subscribe [ http://anthrozine.com/site/support.html ].

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here. I bear good news: The obstacle which prevented me from publishing ANTHROlogy TWO is no more! I've a bit of work yet to do... but now I *can* do that work, so it's all good. Even better: ANTHRO #16 lives! And, like, it's *online*, too! This issue's cover is SLUMBER PARTY, by the estimable Heather Bruton. I thought "Dang, that's good" at first sight, and I'm sure you will, too!
And what's on the *inside* of this issue? Well...
ANTHRO 15: It's alive! It's *alive*!! IT'S ALIVE!!!

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here to let you know that ANTHRO #15 is up on the net for your reading pleasure! Our cover this time is HIGH PRIEST DOMIN, by Carmen Welsh. You may recall that Welsh wrote WHITE MINISTRANT in #12; who knew she could also draw? *She* did -- and now, all of ANTHRO's readers will know, too!
'ANTHRO' saved from imminent bankruptcy
Posted by Alexander Grey on Sun 9 Dec 2007 - 13:00The fandom's most popular furry fanzine, ANTHRO, has been saved from imminent bankruptcy last October by none other than it's loyal readers.
ANTHRO editor Quentin Long was at risk of immediate eviction from his home and indeed the headquarters of the internet fanzine; however the community came to the rescue, raising over $500 in just a few days.
Site update: ANTHRO #14 is live!

Quentin 'Cubist' Long here, once again announcing a new issue of ANTHRO -- #14 -- to the world. If you think I've finished #14 a heck of a lot later than usual, well, you're right; let's just say that Real Life (mostly in the form of job-hunting, and temporary employment) *really* got in the way. Do you think it's unfortunate that mundane financial considerations can get in the way of my working on the 'zine? Me, too. Do you want to help prevent this sort of thing from happening again? Great! You are cordially invited to check out the selection at ANTHRO Press [ http://www.lulu.com/cubist ], the ANTHRO Mall [ http://astore.amazon.com/anthrozine-20 ], and Graphic Descriptions [ http://www.zazzle.com/cubist* ], and purchase whatever may strike your fancy; alternately, feel free to browse ANTHRO's Adams-to-Zelazny collection of recommended furry books [ http://anthrozine.com/site/support.books.1.html ] and/or the Ultimate Anthropomorphic Checklist [ http://anthrozine.com/site/lbry/furry.checklist.a.html ], and buy the one(s) that look good to you.
Anywho... Although this issue is the latest ANTHRO has ever been, its contents are such that I think you'll agree it was worth the wait!
You can help save ANTHRO!
Posted by Cubist on Wed 26 Sep 2007 - 12:43 Quentin Long here with some bad news... and how *you* can help to make that bad news go away.
You'll recall that when I announced the uploading of ANTHRO #13, I mentioned that I was in danger of going homeless, *real* soon. The support this brought was welcome... but it just isn't enough. And here's how bad things are now:
I need USD $500 in the next five days, or I *will* be homeless.
The people who have *already* donated and bought advertisements, they've done their part... but there's only, like, 20 of them. 20... out of a grand total of about *ten* *bleeding* *THOUSAND* people who read and enjoy every issue of ANTHRO.
So here I am again, exhorting furdom-at-large to open your wallets on my behalf, so that *I* can continue to do something which has been a distinct asset to *you*. I'm not exactly enthused to be going all "PBS pledge night" on y'all, but if it works, it works, okay? So here's the deal...
ANTHRO on PDA!
I've reformatted ANTHRO #1 so that it'll fit nicely on a 240-pixel-wide screen -- which means it will work nicely on Palm Pilots or Blackberrys or whatever other PDA you might happen to have. Cross my palm with $2.99 in good USA silver, and it's yours!
