Thu 10 Feb 2011 - 12:53
Furries are a greatly misunderstood subculture. Conducting the study is Courtney "Nuka" Plante, a furry social psychology graduate student at the University of Waterlo and Dr. Kathy Gerbasi, a social psychologist at the Niagara Count

Egyptian golden jackal is actually a grey wolf, scientists discover in DNA test

Wed 9 Feb 2011 - 11:48
"A 'golden jackal' living in north Africa is really a grey wolf, scientists have discovered. The animal's true identity was revealed when researchers compared its DNA with samples in GenBank, a genetic database. Until now, the Egyptian jackal - Canis aureus lupaster - had been considered a rare sub-species of the golden jackal. The new evidence shows it is not a jackal at all, but a type of grey wolf."

Mission Impossible Squirrel

Wed 9 Feb 2011 - 11:48
"This takes place in England - the owners of the yard added each piece of the Rube Goldberg contraption slowly so that when the squirrel learned one section and got the nuts, they then added the next section. Finally it ended with what you see on the clip! It took over 2 weeks to get to this point." DsuVLsDyln4

Brian Jacques, 1939-2011

Tue 8 Feb 2011 - 06:40
"?Fantasy author Brian Jacques died this weekend of a heart attack at the age of 71. He's best known for his lengthy Redwall series, which had 21 books in it which have sold over 20 million copies world-wide. I never read them, but I know they're much loved, and Jacques will be intensely missed by his readers. BBC News says that Jacques was once caned in school after turning in a short fiction story because his teacher couldn't believe that a 10-year-old could write possibly write so well, and must somehow be cheating. That's horrible, but it does help showcase his immense talents, even

"The following is an interview we had with Blotch last Saturday 15 during the Further Confusion furry convention, who for those who doesn't know, Blotch is the collaboration name of two very talented artists: BlackTeagan and Kenket. They have made very popular works like Dog's days of summer and lately they've made cover art and illustrations for Kyell Gold's books (Out of Position, Isolation Play). They have captivated the furry community's interest with their unique watercolor style and fantastic sense of animal anatomy. If you are a furry and haven't heard about them, you have probably be

Elusive Cat Once Thought Extinct is Alive and OK in Borneo

Mon 24 Jan 2011 - 18:53
"Almost everything scientists know about the Bornean bay cat is based on just 12 samples, the first of which was a skin collected in 1855 in Sarawak, Malaysia. In the several decades following this original discovery, seven other skins appeared. It wasn't until 1992 that a living specimen was obtained. Then, after another was captured in 1998, the species disappeared. It was widely thought to be extinct until a photograph was taken of a single cat in 2003. Now, the photographic record has expanded after three photographs, depicting two or three individuals, were captured by camera traps

Foxes make home on Charlottetown roof

Mon 24 Jan 2011 - 18:53
"Two foxes have taken up residence in Charlottetown - on the roof of a home. The house in Lewis Point Park is now one of the most photographed spots in Charlottetown, as the foxes nap on the snow-covered roof. Tony Kelly said he snapped a series of pictures after his friend told him about the animals. "I didn't really know what he was talking about, so I come over, and he was at the door, and he told me to look over here on the roof," Kelly said. "I looked over, and here there was a couple of foxes curled up in the snowbank in the V of the roof." The foxes didn't seem to ca

American vs Japanese Animals

Mon 24 Jan 2011 - 18:53
"Anime fans in both Japan and the barbarian nations have been pondering the rather pronounced differences in animal character design between the USA and Japan. Disturbingly, the American version could be recaptioned "furrie animals" without too much incongruity, although the same could probably be said of Japan's with respect to "moeblob animals.""

Editorial a4 Answering a Question About the Donation Drive

Mon 24 Jan 2011 - 18:51
"Honestly - It's because I watched the situation unfold from the first tweet offering ThunderRoo a job, through his flight to Georgia, and then the drama unfolding with his parents and the rescue by ScottJFox. On top of that, I met him in person once he got to Atlanta. I talked with him, knew how much this new start meant to him and was upset and outraged that his parents would want to be so manipulative and controlling. He lost everything. His home. His savings. The new job. He is now hiding out from his parents and needs some hope. The people who donated to him have given him a
