According to this article in the Virginian Pilot, a big cat of unknown species and origin has been spotted in the community of Chincoteague Island, VA. The rumors of the cat's presence have recently been compounded upon by a reported mauling of a resident.

CNN.COM has an article running about the newly-released graphic novel by Kim Deitch titled "The Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Within the book is a story that seems to have overtones of "Harvey" -- one of the characters is a cartoon cat who acts as the voice of another character's ego -- but offers a history of the animation industry with something of a personal touch.

Zeenews.com has a brief write-up about a panther that strayed into a South Delhi residential area on January second. Just another story in a rash of animal-related news this week, it seems.

Cthulhu Coffee is a website primarily focused on the horror genre. With such a predilection towards all things Lovecraft you probably wouldn't expect such a site to have much that would interest the Furry fandom. That's where you'd be wrong.

In a move that comes as something of a surprise to fans, the Sci Fi Network has decided after a very successful four seasons not to pick up the 5th season of the popular series Farscape. You can read the log of the chat with Farscape executive producers David Kemper and Richard Manning (as well as star Ben Browder) here.

A write in campaign has been formed in hopes to show Sci Fi the error of their ways. Both Browder and Kemper ask that well-written, obscenity-free letters be sent to the executive management of Sci-Fi and USA Networks.

RetroCrush has rated their top 50 sexiest cartoon babes. Amongst the predictable winners such as Lara Croft and Wonder Woman are some more intriguing ones from the series that have anthros. For example, Bugs Bunny is number 24 (click the link for the explanation on that one) and slot thirteen is occupied by Cheetara of Thundercats fame. Other furries are in the ranks as well, but I won't spoil them here -- go check the list out for yourself.

If you read The Onion or any number of other publications you may have seen the less-than-flattering response to a question about furry published in the August 7th column of "Savage Love" (Savage Love is a question/answer column written by sex advice guru Dan Savage). Unsurprisingly there was an overwhelming response to his take on the fandom, its origins and interests. His August 14th column has a small blurb at the bottom that reads "Next week in Savage Love: Furries speak! And roll over! And go on the carpet! And attempt to chew me a furry new asshole!"

Judging by the last part I think we can safely guess that a large portion of the feedback he got was little more than flaming rhetoric -- and if there's one thing Dan loves to do it is to dish back as good as he's gotten. We can expect fireworks next week for sure.

1)Attend ceremony
2)Become overwhelmed by cute lobsters
3)Grab them from the pot before they're boiled and run down the driveway shouting "I'm saving the lobsters, I'm saving the lobsters!"

With the apparent disbanding of Burned Fur, the registration of the domain "burnedfur.com" was allowed to lapse. The domain was snapped up on August 7th by one of the numerous cybersquatting companies out on the 'net and turned into a site peddling the usual pornography seen in other such cases.

If you've got a link to www.burnedfur.com on your site you probably will want to remove it at this point. Nothing to see here, move along, move along...
