In the wake of the success of the Harry Potter series of children's novels, the estate of author C.S. Lewis is gearing up for a new effort to market his classic Chronicles of Narnia books, the New York Times reported. The seven Narnia books tell the story of Aslan, a lion who rules a fantasy kingdom, and the English schoolchildren who visit his world.

In the latest issue of CREATIVE SCREENWRITING, there is an interview with Tab Murphy, the sole credited screenwriter of Disney's upcoming ATLANTIS, and a writer on HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and TARZAN. (...) For those curious about Murphy's next animation project, he's developing an animated feature for DreamWorks called WOLVES.



I did my scan of mentions of animation films in development but didn't find this one anywhere so it must be EARLY in the cycle.

An impressive start to a new comic for the gay anthropomorphic fans. Being a writer, I'm probably a bit biased towards this comic but I have to say I am very impressed.

Ronald D. Moore--who recently received the go-ahead from The WB for a series based on the Dragonriders of Pern novel series--told SCI FI Wire that he hopes to remain faithful to Anne McCaffrey's books, with some concessions to TV. "The show will be an interpretation of Anne's books, my take on Anne's world," Moore said in an interview. "It's how I see it successfully moving into television."

Michael Fry, co-creator of the Over the Hedge comic strip, told the Comics2Film website that DreamWorks honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg has picked up the strip's concept for development as a computer-animated feature film. Pacific Data Images (Antz) would reportedly develop the film. Hedge centers on a talking raccoon and turtle who live near suburbia.
