Anthrocon featured as Hip, Gay, Fetish party in Mate Magazin by Louiefurrywolfy -- Fur Affinity [dot] net

Thu 2 Jun 2011 - 13:39
I've been buying "Mate" lately, an international gay male culture magazine produced in Berlin and the Netherlands. I was surprised that under their hip international summer party list, they included Anthrocon.

Reactions:

1.) Oh boy, here comes the "We're not gay and we're not a fetish" thing.

2.) Anthrocon? Internationally hip?

3.) What if a bunch of skeezy circuit queens read this in the magazine and just show up at Anthrocon thinking it's like the White Party or something? Free X for the furries! *shudder*

4.) Figures if Anthrocon was brought to international attention as a "fetish event" the Germans and the Dutch would be the ones to sniff it out.

Opinion: Redefining furry

Fri 27 May 2011 - 03:01
Furry is nowadays often defined as containing anthropomorphic characters — a slight change from the earlier definition of "fictional mammalian anthropomorphic characters."

Obviously we have gone beyond being exclusively mammalian, but even the current definition needs some expansion, and could more clearly distinguish between what is and is not furry.

The Hidden Message in Pixar’s Films

I have uncovered the skeleton key deciphering the hidden message contained within the Pixar canon. Let’s unlock it.

The Raccoons Confront an Image Problem

Tue 17 May 2011 - 16:06
Besides crime, the second-biggest concern for some Philadelphians, according to one City Council member, are raccoons, the furry thugs … that rummage through your trash and put entire neighborhoods on edge.

—Philadelphia Daily News

“The raccoons essentially clear the streets at night. They walk down the cats, the kids all run when they see the raccoons coming. … People shouldn’t have to be concerned about walking out their front door and being approached by a raccoon.”

—Councilman Darrell Clarke, as quoted on Newsworks.org
