Beam me up?

A beam of light has been teleported in Australia, which might seem a long way from Star Trek, but it's the first step to large scale teleportation.Though humans are a long way off (if ever) the applications of being able to teleport sub atomic particles and light are numerous, such as telecommunications and encryption.

Being a scientist, I view this with a lot of scepticism. Sounds not unlike cold water fusion... and the BBC article has few details on how they got a light beam to "jump."

Seems like just a larger scale application of how they teleported a photon(well, it's properties atleast) a few years ago.
As for details, you might try a site like exn.ca that'd be more likly to include such, rather than something aimed at the general public
