Battlestar Galactica Fans Displeased With Announced Remake
The SciFi Channel has recently announced that it will do a remake of the TV series 'Battlestar Galactica', to be headed by Ronald Moore ('Roswell', 'Mission: Impossible 2'). This news has been met with surprise and dismay by 'X-Men' producer Tom DeSanto, who had spent last year developping a 'Galactica' project of his own with Vivendi/Universal, and by the fans of the show, who were looking forward to DeSanto's project.
The fans have started online petitions as a protest for this turn of events.
The SciFi Channel has recently announced that a new 'Battlestar Galactica' production is being produced. The new production is said to be a remake of the seventies TV show, and is to be headed by former 'Roswell' writer Ronald Moore.
This news surprised and shocked most 'Battlestar Galactica' fans, since another project had already been announced last year, to be headed by X-Men producers Bryan Singer and Tom DeSanto.
Bryan Singer eventually left the production team last November, but Tom DeSanto had kept pushing for the return of 'Galactica'. Now, without any warning, he seems to have been taken off the project by Vivendi/Universal.
The fans are particularly aghast since DeSanto was reputed for listening to the demanding fanbase of the show, and wanting to do a sequel of the original series with at least some of the original cast back, along with younger actors, and keeping faithful to the spirit and themes of the original 1978-1979 'Battlestar Galactica'.
Ronald Moore's project, on the other hand, has been announced to be a remake of the show, without the participation of the original actors, and likely with substantial changes to the look and themes of the show.

[sarcasm] Oh, please! I just can't wait to see Moppet again! [/sarcasm]
Someone throw the writers a new idea please, as they're undoubtably clueless again.
With the exception of the android Moppet, there were no furry creatures in this series that I am aware of. Certainly not in the main cast- though if they didn't shave regularly they may qualify.
Anyways, I'm not sure why this news is being posted here at Flayrah. It has as much to do with the furry fandom as the recent train derailment in California where three people died.
