DailyFurBlog logoEditor Syler Husky has closed DailyFurBlog, which he used to highlight furry news and trivia. The site had been hosted on DailyFurBlog.com since April 2011, with 218 posts since July 2011.

In his concluding post, Sy said he was refocussing on his YouTube channel, Furry VideoShowdown, after DFB failed to gain traction.

We covered stories and educated many on the fandom, but sadly I can not handle the work load. I have worked with Jackson who did an amazing job, but sadly still the views still dropped and a “furry blog” did not work out. I must say this mostly stems on the process of many other furries making their own blogs elsewhere as well as DFB not hamming it up enough to attract others.

Aw man, I never even knew it existed, and I go trolling around for new Furry sites regularly.

I kind of thought that a blog was something you did anyway, whether you had lots of readers or just a few. I admit that when there are more readers, there can be more incentive to write.

We had it in our footer since 2011! Perhaps you should check out the other sites there. (Admittedly, many lack updates.)

Blogs are a format. If you provide a service in that format, and it isn't popular, you may terminate it like any other service. Many blogs are personal journals; for those, it may not matter how many people read it, if any.

A blog on the Internet is just like a personal column in a newspaper. I have a column/blog on animation, "Funny Animals and More", on Jerry Beck's Cartoon Research website: http://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/category/funny-animals-and-more/

Maybe if he finds interesting stories he'll post them here. That would be good then.

Yes; I suggested that to him. While I think it is important to focus on original content, our increasing audience also appears to value us as a "furry filter" (hence the addition of Newsbytes to our Twitter and Facebook feeds), and we can always do with more contributors to report tidbits from around the net.

Have you considered asking Syler about integrating DailyFurblog posts into Flayrah for posterity?

Honestly, I feel most either duplicate existing Flayrah coverage, or are of a trivial (and often promotional) nature.

I have asked AshMCairo about Furry101 content; he said yes, but I haven't gotten around to it. I may have time soon.
