Full Steam ahead for furry video games
Normally, damp or wet fur isn't a pleasant thought or smell, but in this case, it's a very good thing! Five upcoming furry-themed video games have been found on Steam's Greenlight Program, and are given previews in this roundup.
Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin
Currently available for iOS devices and Google Android and coming soon to Windows and Mac OS X via Steam, Usagi Yojimbo: Way of the Ronin is the first appearance of the lapine in a video game since his adventures on the Commodore 64, back in 1988 — 25 years ago (at the time this story was posted)! This game by Happy Giant is based on the classic comic book series by Stan Sakai. Usagi Yojimbo is renowned for his appearances in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics and television series. In the game, you act as Miyamoto Usagi, the rabbit warrior, on an epic journey to restore order to the land of feudal-era Japan, with only your trusted sword Grasscutter to assist you. In the game, you will battle over fifty different types of enemies, with three boss monsters from the comics.
Blood of the Werewolf
Blood of the Werewolf is an upcoming game for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux via Steam, by Scientifically Proven. Described as "Altered Beast meets Castlevania", this game places you as Selena, the shape-shifting warrior of the Wolf Clan, fighting to rescue her kidnapped son and avenge her murdered husband. Players will travel through fifteen levels of action-packed 2D platforming (think Sonic the Hedgehog 3, or Super Mario World), and fight classic monster villains like Dracula, the Mummy, Frankenstein, and Hyde.
Freedom Planet
Developer GalaxyTrail describes Freedom Planet's gameplay as "Mega Man meets Sonic meets Gunstar Heroes". This game has full voice acting, intense boss fights, and stylish platforming adventures. You play as a dragon girl and her furry friends as they fight against an alien invasion force. With this gameplay, retro graphics, and charming characters, it's almost like this game is from the Sega Saturn or PS1.
(un)Lucky7
(un)Lucky7 is a rather interesting horror/JRPG/Survival game that raised most of its funding via Indiegogo. Planned for release on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X (if enough funding is recieved, or Windows-only if not), the story is about six prisoners and one android who are sent into space on an untested rocket in exchange for the promise of freedom. Things quickly go wrong, though, and the furry characters must help each other survive. Drawing inspiration from the Aliens franchise, games like Ao Oni, To the Moon, and Corpse Party, this game is designed to scare and challenge you, and has multiple endings. The soundtrack is by Fox Amoore.
Guise of the Wolf
Made by FUN Creators, this first-person action-adventure game with platforming elements is intended to cater to adventure and werewolf fans. Guise of the Wolf is designed with a gothic-style atmosphere. You act as the young alchemist Dominik, who was bitten by a ravenous beast in Uhorsko. He is able to transform into his wolf form via moonlight at any time, and must delve deeper into a dark castle in order to find a cure to his lycanthropy.
Updates
On August 28, 2013, Guise of the Wolf and Freedom Planet were both added to Steam for purchase and download. Further updates will be posted if and when the other games are added.

I finally got around to playing the Freedom Planet demo. It's pretty fun! Very close to Sonic, with a few neat twists.
It was a rather good game. The only issue I had is that they need to teach the player how to knock of those logs better. As the cat lady (during first playthough) I jumped over it. The dragon, however, could not jump high enough to clear it. So I found myself having Casino Night Red Barrel Syndrome spending minutes on end trying to figure out what I was supposed to do to get past.
It wasn't AS bad as it took me maybe 5 minutes to figure out as opposed to the Sonic's probably literally hours.

It seems to be a thing where if the word furry is in the title it's typically a puzzle kind of game with different colored tribbles. It's not the first examples I've seen of something like that.
I think the term furry is actually used in the concept that the creatures have literal fur, and it's their only defining feature. So it's kind of the thing where the developer, or title maker, has no idea about the word's noun definitions, just the adjective ones.
