Animated film: The troll is not a dog ["The Snow Queen"]

The Snow Queen, written in 1845 by Hans Christian Andersen, did not have any anthropomorphic characters in it. Hollywood; excuse me, Moscow; has corrected this omission. Not in the 1957 Soyuzmultfilm feature, which was a faithful enough adaptation of Andersen’s tale but with a talking raven, but in the new Wizart Animation 80-minute CGI feature, directed by Maxim Sveshnikov and Vlad Barbe, coming in Russia in December.
The story has been modernized and expanded for today's audiences, with a non-human troll added as a major character (for comedy relief); and Gerda has been given a pet ermine, who is not very anthropomorphic but is smarter than the average ermine. [Animation Magazine]

And coming November 2013 - Disney's Frozen. Perhaps a little less anthropomorphic, but more likely to be seen by readers!
Like the Lion King and Kimba really.
I'm thinking more along the lines of Puss in Boots and The True Adventures of Puss 'N' Boots.
Yeah, it's a Russian fairy tale, but now is a suspicious time to dig it up ...
Actually, it's a Danish fairy tale set in Lappland.

I'm 'Merican; don't confuse me with you fancy geographying.
Wow, this is fucking horrible.
Well, I'll be...
If you think that this looks horrible, look at "Sir Billi".

Jerry Beck, on Animation Scoop, has just announced that the Russian 2012 "The Snow Queen" has been so successful, in Russia and internationally, that a sequel, "Snow Queen 2: The Snow King", has been announced as coming for this December. The English-language trailer implies that "coming this December" goes for America as well as for Russia.

What's more, judging by its teaser trailer and its all-anthro-animal theatrical poster, it's the new anthropomorphic animal supporting cast of the first movie, notably Orm the troll (who can transform into a black weasel) and his people, and Gerda's pet ermine Luta, who are the big stars of this sequel.
Animation Scoop says that "The Snow Queen" has been so popular in the U.S. as a direct-to-DVD feature that there is a good chance that "Snow Queen 2: The Snow King" will get an American theatrical release.
Russian animation studio Wizart's third CGI feature is also announced: "Sheep and Wolves", a fantasy about a wolf who becomes a sheep. Wow; anthro-animals and transformation! They've certainly got our number, don't they?
