Douglas Adams, author of the Hitchhiker's guides, has died at 49 of a heart attack. More information at the BBC. Hope he's confusing the heck out of the angels in Heaven right now with his crazy stories.

Damn....This was sudden, and unexpected. I read Douglas Adams' Hitchhiker trilogy (and it was a trilogy, at the time!) way back when I was 11 or 12. It was zany. It was fun. This man will be missed.
11 or 12 and the whole series was out!?!?!
Fine, fine, make me feel like an old man.
I remember being in college, waiting for months for the third book...
I still love listening to tapes of the original radio series. It was the best form of the idea. He was a very funny and creative story teller. It is definitely our loss.
This is a man who will be sorely missed here. He brought a smile to a lot of faces, and a confused expression to a lot of others.

This is awful. Adams was one of the wittiest authors I've ever read. Try and find a copy of Last Chance to See; it's a very striking book about endangered animals. I think Mr. Adams will be missed by all who have read his books.
Wouldn't it be just like him to spend a year dead for tax purposes?
So long, DNA, and thanks for all the laughs.
Peace;

My tax lawyer recommended against it. He said the taxes for coming back to life after being dead outweighed what I would save by being dead.
