Rabbit Valley are looking for authors to submit stories for their ongoing anthology projects. They will be publishing several anthologies in 2013 and need authors to submit stories for review. Check out their submissions page for details.

Four furry projects at adult crowdfunding website Offbeatr

OffbeatrOffbeatr is a new crowdfunding website which allows erotic projects. (Pornographic material is prohibited on Kickstarter and Indiegogo.)

From Offbeatr's FAQ:

Offbeatr is a site that enables people to raise money for adult creative projects. [...] something tangible like a movie, book, game, or physical product.

Forbes magazine has a nice introductory article, and furries are already using the site.

San Jose furry art exhibition calls for entries by December 31

Two galleries in downtown San Jose will be hosting open-to-the-public furry art shows concurrent with Further Confusion 2012, from January 12 (Thursday) to 21 (Saturday).

The stated objective of these shows is to get high-quality furry art out in the public, and to introduce San Jose's downtown gallery scene to the wealth of furry artwork. Local news media representatives will be invited to visit.

There is an open call for artwork, including con-badges, which will be printed by the show; the submission deadline is December 31. The shows are being organized independently of Further Confusion by its Art Track events lead, B. Root, creator of webcomic The Dawn Chapel.

The KALEID gallery and comic book publishers Slave Labor Graphics are hosting the shows.

Minnesota hunter admitted shooting dogs, owner claims

Makita and Devaki deadTwo young German Shepherds, year-and-a-half old Devaki and Makita, were shot and killed on November 12. Co-owners Shannon Hautala, Gary Kuoppala and Alexis Gunderson spoke with the press.

The owners were doing chores on their farm in Clinton Township, Iron Range, Minnesota.

The dogs ducked under a fence and ran into the woods. The owners started calling for the dogs as soon as they went out of sight. Hautala said she heard gunshots shortly afterwards.

The next morning, Hautala found the dogs dead near a hunting stand on the adjoining property. Hautala said the hunters admitted to her they had shot the dogs. Kuoppala said:

All they said is they can shoot anything that comes on their land and if the dogs come on their land, they can shoot them.

Therapy dogs visit kids at courthouse

Court is stressful for everyone, but especially for young family members. Now the Courthouse Dogs Program provides comfort to children and families going through the court system.

Dogs from Roxy Reading visited the Bucks County Courthouse in Doylestown, Pennsylvania as part of a pilot program launched by county Judge Robert Mellon.
