A couple of interesting stories have popped up on the Ananova News Service.

In Rat Kills Cat in River Brawl villagers in India report their shock at seeing a rat overpower and kill a cat.

And in Czech Family say they've got Rabbit with Three Penises the Samek family are looking to enter the Guinness Book of Records with their unusual bunny.

The Guardian Newspaper is reporting that a British Marine Biologist has been dragged under water by a Leopard Seal.

The scientist was snorkelling near an Antarctic Research Station when the seal siezed her. She was lifted from the water but efforts to resuscitate her failed.

Yesterday (7th November), the Sun reported that a "vampire squirrel" had been terrorising the residents of Knutsford, Cheshire.
The "ghastly grey fiend" attacked six people before fleeing to the safety of a fence. "You don't expect that from a squirrel," said one victim, whose ankle was "lacerated".
However, Today's edition updates the story. The squirrel has been shot dead while attacking the grandfather of one of his victims.

A border collie has taken up darts, according to an article in today's Sun newspaper (offline version only, it seems). Blue, a regular at the Boreatton Arms in Shropshire, has not yet mastered the technique of throwing them. But he has been allowed to join a pub team after diligently jumping on a chair, removing the darts from the board with his teeth and dropping them at the feet of the next player. "We save energy by not having to fetch our darts from the board," explains his owner, builder Geoff Davies. The collie has also shown a flair for pool: "He once potted a red from 12in away by hitting the cue ball with his nose."

They have pictures of 10,000 year old "Antelope-human hybrids" as cave paintings and even mention a 32,000 year old "androgynous feline-headed statuette from Germany".

According to NewScientist:
"Fires in eastern Russia are threatening the last stronghold of the Siberian tiger, according to WWF."

Apparently, Six hundred square kilometers are ablaze near an area densely populated by this endangered species. The WWF have six fire brigades attempting to control the fires.
