Flinthoof's stories

Hello!

We've received a decent response to our informal requests for assistance for Conifur 2005. We do indeed need help for we've had several retirements in our staff and need new blood, new ideas, new strong backs to help shoulder the burdens. While we always need generalized help during the event, we especially need help in Registration (Registration Lead, staffers, etc), Events (organizing events to fill space available), Dance, Charity Auction/Fundraiser, Security, Gaming and more. If you want to update your job resume, participating in a nonprofit organization like Conifur can really help out for it shows outside activities that deal with managing a trade show environment. Job skills learned in helping to run a convention can and do apply directly to many jobs in the real world. Here's a break down:

The Shadow of Death looms over the cast of ROOMIES this week for after surviving a shuttlecraft crash landing in a lake somewhere near Cleveland, the party consisting of Murai, Quinn, Rhonda, Tibo, and RM struggled their way to shore only to find RM in a deep coma.

RM Lepus was brought to a local facility where she remains in critical condition. Long overnight operating sessions did not bring much improvement in the rabbit.

"I'd say her prognosis is not good," said one otter doctor. "She's suffered massive internal injuries and while most rabbits are known for their flexibility and survival capabilities, we are forced to recognize this is one sick bunny."

RM's daughter, Rhonda Lepus along with her friend Tibo, were said to be holding a vigil awaiting for her condition to improve.

All these folks are part of a popular online web comic called ROOMIES: Chaos by Design at:

Will RM survive? What happens when you give a ferret a shiny gun? Will toast save the day? Where IS Flinthoof while all this is going on anyways?

ROOMIES: Crimes Against Nature is now back online after a hiatus due to a physical move of the server and T1 line. A new host and a new address will ensure ROOMIES will be around for a long time. Check out this furry comic at:

Come see what happened to Corey and Dave- did they or didn't they? And just what IS Corey anyways?

ConiFur Hotel Closing

We have been just informed by the sales department at the Best Western Executive Inn located in Fife, WA, that they will be closing down effectively July 31st.

Unfortunately this means that our event scheduled to happen in the first weekend in October is in jeopardy. We are in communications with the hotel now and trying to arrange an alternative venue for our event. We are not sure what the result will be at this time, but we should know shortly and will announce it to the membership and public just as soon as possible.

If you are making reservations, we ask that you wait until an announcement is made regarding this. The 1-800 number for the front desk at the Fife location is turning away customers due to the reasons given. However, the national reservation center is unaware of the closure and is still actively taking reservations for dates that may turn out unavailable.

We apologize for the incovenience this may cause. We are doing everything possible to rectify the situation and will keep you folks informed as soon as we know anything.

Thank you.

In an unprecedented arrangement, the organizers of ConiFur NorthWest have realized the need to increase the number of hours in a day to fully enjoy all the events and activities that go on during a busy convention weekend. They have arrived at an agreement with Father Time to extend Saturday, October 27th, by one full hour.
