If I may play devil's advocate, I think the fact that "Monkey" is in the title may be an indication that the two main characters are supposed to be monkeys (or apes) in Monkey Wrench. Might be a stretch, but we've seen strange designs for animals before.
As for what you've got here: These are pretty good choices. I personally wish I could get The End in there as a tribute to Blue Sky, but it seems like less and less of a good enough reason to nominate it. The Legend of Pipi, Tales from Scorchwater Valley - The Rhino and the Redbill, Money Wrench - The Ghost Egg and Tales of Zale - Flickering Lights are definitely what I'm, choosing, and The End was supposed to be the fifth one. But Horns... that definitely shakes things up for. I may have to put that one in instead.
One more thing, surprised you didn't note certain details, like that Money Wrench is spun off from a little animated skit that reused audio from one of the Cheech and Chong movies, or that Tales of Zale actually had a few shorts before taking a bit of a hiatus and coming back. I also think that the person who made Legend of Pipi helped work on Helluva Boss.
