If conventions were placed next to high frequency, reliable transit, the ability to get there via transit vs car would be much more similar. Yes, "just get a car" is a tempting option but remember that not everyone has a car or can drive. Conventions and furmeets represent some of the only opportunities for members of our community to interact in-person. Although everything costs money and this is just a hobby, it is important we make don't shut out people of lower income backgrounds from this great community when there are clear ways to avoid doing so.
