I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos basically about how/why this country has turned its back on public transportation in favor of cars for all, cars over everything. (I never knew what a "stroad" was until I started watching these videos.)
I'm spoiled rotten because I live in New York City with a bus stop right across the street and two subway stations within walking distance; I've never had a need to own a car. Anyplace outside a big city and you might as well not have legs if you don't have wheels. Next week I'm going to Furthemore near Washington DC: subway to Amtrak to DC Metro to Reagan Airport where I'll get the hotel's courtesy shuttle to the convention.
