But yeah, to put this to bed the recommended reading list is updated throughout the year, usually after the awards for the prior year are done.
She is not listed there, if they removed her due to the article she would have been listed on that archieve shot and then gone in the ones after the article. So as you say, a missed email or some other issue could have caused it.
But a person can be nominated regardless of being on the RL or not.
As far as discussion, I think it's gone on for as much as can be helped for now. We can assess that (as noted in the article) Garrison had won 2022, there are going to be people who discuss the results with praise and bitterness (which happens in all contests), and we now know how the system works so that we can be more strategic with our votes in the future (for better and for worse).
