The only thing journalists are beholden to their subjects is accuracy, not to give them sloppy blowjobs of puff pieces. I mean, if journalists want to give them sloppy blowjobs of puff pieces, that's fine, too, but, you know, they usually don't want to when the subjects withhold necessary information (their readers and editors, the people they are actually beholden to, want) while crowing "neener, neener!" at them.

What we're looking for, to extend the oral sex metaphor, is a sloppy 69.

Also, seriously, this is the most coverage most of these conventions have gotten in years (in many case, ever), so I'm not sure what anyone is complaining about, if not lack of coverage; if there's no coverage, well, at least it's not bad coverage.
