I finally got to watch it today, and my reaction echoes what others here have said. It wasn't one of the best but it was still pretty good and enjoyable. The father/son conflict got resolved differently than I expected, and in a positive way. Fewer ridiculous/over the top gags (though there were some) and the absence of toilet humor was appreciated. Characters weren't the most exciting but the main ones were likeable. Also on the downside... without giving too much away, let's just say the way the final confrontation played out was kind of wishy-washy. On the whole I'd rate it better than The Secret Life of Pets, about equal to Sing, but nowhere near as good as 2016's best animated films like Your Name and Zootopia. (I consider it a 2016 film due to its overseas release that year.)
