That "anonymous poster" would've been me, and I stand by everything I said: Hepcats is still a terrible comic published by a borderline embezzler, and Blacksad remains as well drawn as it is cliched. (The plot twist involving the wife/daughter at the end of the White Supremacist storyline is so dumb it makes M. Night Shyamalan look like Shakespeare -- not to mention it's ripped off from the movie Chinatown. But the twist at the end of Chinatown, however audacious, is at least plausible!)
If you want classic hard-boiled film noir, stick to Kiss Me Deadly and Touch of Evil, or Chinatown for that matter, and mentally imagine the casts with animal heads if you must.
