It's been a while since we posted an update, but now is the time. We hope that everyone is looking forward to June 1-3rd, with anticipation building and the excitement levels rising. The crew of What The Fur is hard at work, planning what we expect to be the best event yet.

In this edition: Hotel reservations are open; Early Bird pre-registration is still on, with a contest for those who sign up before January; dealer's den table availability; and requests for convention book submissions, programming and DJs.

Hotel is open for reservations!

Our registration has been open and available online for a while now, but as we had been waiting on the release of the Formula 1 race schedule for 2012, we were unable to secure our room rates at the Hotel Espresso. Until now.

As of November 15th, we are glad to announce that the Hotel Espresso is accepting room reservations! And as an added bonus, the room rates will remain the same! Our room rate will be available from May 31st through to June 4th (checkout).

A double occupancy room will start at $110 CDN per night. Remember that suites in the hotel, which are available, will be subject to a higher price, and that rooms will cost you a little more if you have more than 2 people ($10/extra person). Remember that parking is not included.

To reserve your room, please call the hotel directly at 1-877-468-3550 or (514) 938-4611, and be sure to say you are attending What The Fur to ensure you get the proper rates. The hotel’s online reservation system does not allow for reservations under our group code, so please call.

Early Bird pre-registration is still on!

Until January 1st 2012, we’re offering you a deal on our registration fees. From now until the end of the year, you can save by pre-registering! Regular memberships are only $35, and sponsor memberships are $85. But that’s not all!

If you get an Early Bird membership for What The Fur, you could win more. Register before January and you have a chance to save!

All registrations received before December 31st at midnight (eastern) will be entered into a draw. The winning membership will be gifted with a full refund. That’s right, if you register now, your membership might cost you nothing at all! (In the case of a Dealers Room membership, this applies only to the registration portion of your membership, and not to your table reservation)

Remember that you can always register now, and pay later. Visit our registration page for further details.

Dealers and Artists and Vendors, oh my!

The What The Fur Dealer’s Den is filling up, slowly but surely. With a limited amount of tables, if you’re considering getting a spot you should act now! Both full tables and half tables are still available. See our dealers page for further information, but don’t wait too long!

Do you have something to contribute to the convention book?

The What The Fur con book is more than just a bunch of random information about the convention: It’s a piece of your experience you can take with you. It’s a memory in tangible form. And to that end, we want to make sure it is one of the best memories you have. Do you have artwork you would like to share with everyone? A story? Drop us a line.

Programming, programming, programming

As always, we would love to have experienced (And inexperienced) people share their expertise, knowledge, wisdom, or humour with the rest of us! Do you have something you would like to share? Perhaps teach people? How to draw, write, or sew? Dos and Don’ts of the fandom? Nostalgia? Don’t be afraid! We will gladly consider all offers, and try and accommodate everyone! Let us know about your ideas for panels, what you might be willing to host, or what you might like to see.

DJs! Make us move!

Do you spin? Do you have what it takes to make some of our creatures of the night come out of the shadows into the light and move their tails? We’re looking for you! If you’re a DJ, and want to spend some time behind your deck at the Dance, let us know!
