I really enjoyed MLP:FiM, with the exception of one certain episode, because it was funny. It wasn't so childish that no one could get into it and there was a serious sort of tone as well, as you point out. I was actually surprised to like it, since I've seen the rubbish sort of kids shows that come from Disney these days and because at first glance the ponies look really weird, but it grabbed me and I was hooked just a few episodes in. I'm really looking forward to the next season, though if you build something up it's easy for even something good to be disappointing...
