Funding a community site, especially one relating to furry would be, well difficult at least in some areas more than others. First off, you need to have people who are willing to participate and be a part of it, and donations (especially public) are a bit difficult to obtain. Memberships, at least in my opinion defeats the purpose of drawing a group together. Personally I would run it like I did the GLBTSA at college, Starting out we had no money because the club had been abandoned 3 years prior and so to fund outings we would go to free events, and sometimes pool money for more elaborate outings. It's a great way to start groups and clubs from nothing, and after a while, if the group grows, or stays around the same size you can look towards merchandise, ads, and of course, donations, starting a club up on these opportunities can be a larger gamble than it is worth after all.
