More of the same.

Ms. Giggle's longtime friend has been captured by Ms. Manajur, so she and four students head off to the rescue. It does not go well.

BOOM! STUDIOS (http://www.boom-studios.net/)
AUG090742 Donald Duck and Friends #347 24pg, color $2.99
by Bruno Enna & Donald Soffritti
Donald Duck, secret agent, ferwaltsake. There's little enough furry out there that I haven't tried to follow my predecessor Doodles's policy of omitting kid's comics, as witness the Sonic stuff. I had no qualms about including the Disney comics, which are readable by adults, but I think I'll give up on these 'like you've never seen!' travesties after this month, and just list titles, except for anything that actually looks good.
AUG090745 The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck v. 1 hc, 112pg, color $24.99
by Don Rosa
The first hardcover edition, possibly. Recommended.
AUG090748 Mickey Mouse & Friends #297 24pg, color $2.99
by Stefano Ambrosio and Lorenzo Pastrovicchio
Crap fantasy, continued.
AUG090754 The Muppet Show: the Treasure of Peg-leg Wilson #4 (of 4) 24pg, color $2.99
by Roger Langridge
It's by Roger Langridge. Boom! apparently wants four-issue miniseries that they can collect into trade paperbacks.
AUG090755 Uncle Scrooge #384 24pg, color $2.99
by various
'Building on a tradition created by some of the greatest creators the comic book world has ever seen, like Carl Barks and Don Rosa, these issues of Uncle Scrooge will follow Scrooge on new adventures that North American audiences have never seen! Join us in a bold new era for Scrooge that pays tribute to the past but heads to a new future!' The other new looks are crap but conceivably this could be OK. Looks like more European reprints, which is good.
AUG090757 Walt Disney's Christmas Classics vol 1 hc, 7"x10", 112pg, color $24.99
by various
Reprints, which is good.
AUG090758 Walt Disney's Comics & Stories #700 24pg, color $2.99
by Riccardo Secchi and Stefano Turconi
Crappy superheroes, continued.
Other anthro stuff this month: The World of Cars: Radiator Springs #4, Finding Nemo: Reef Rescue trade paperback, and Muppet Peter Pan #3.

AUG090853 The Book About Moomin, Mymble, and Little My hc, 8"x11", 23pg $16.95
by Tove Jansson
This is a kids' book, like grade-school level, but I mention it for Moomin completists, since it's been out of print in the US for half a century. The four collections of Moomin newspaper strips are also offered again.

GINGKO PRESS (http://www.gingkopress.com/)
AUG090900 Space Dog hc, 5.75"x7.5", 34pg $12.95
by Hendrik Dorgathen
'One day Space Dog wanders off of the farm, jumps a train to the big city, and before he knows it, he's been transformed from an innocent farm dog to street wise dog about town. After a series of adventures Dog attracts the attention of NASA and is hand-picked to become the first dog in space.' Says the Website, 'With his pioneering, wordless graphic novel, Space Dog, Hendrik Dorgathen has been hailed as the first illustrator to bridge the gap between comics and art.' Yeah, and you can't spell 'ginkgo' right, either.

MIRAGE STUDIOS (http://www.ninjaturtles.com/)
AUG090991 Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #63 32pg, b&w $3.25
by Ryan Brown, Dan Berger, Jim Lawson, and Eric Talbot
'World's Deadliest II.' Looks like 'The Most Dangerous Game' with ninja turtles and monsters.
AUG090992 Donatello: the Brain Thief #2 (of 4) 32pg, b&w $3.25
by Jim Lawson
Donatello confronts the mysterious new robot.
