Here is an amazing stop motion film by Jie Weng [1] about life, death and our relationship with cats.  I really do love the Professional [2] reference with Leon in cat form. The upcoming Cartoon Network series Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart was created by (OK K.O.!) and Black Dynamite [1] writer/storyboard artist Parker Simmons [2].  This is a co-production between Titmouse Inc and Cartoon Network Studios and is going to debut on the channel on July 1, 2019. This is a cute little "My dog ate my homework" student film from Calarts this year.   What I love about this short is the classic unfinished look and the fact the animator actually calls himself a furry.  We really have come a long way.

New french animated film from Lorenzo Mattotti and Prima Linea Productions. We probably wont be seeing an Englishcopy of this film for some time but it does look real interesting. Update: I stand corrected, according to Prima Linea:  "But yes you probably will be able to watch it in English copy this year !!! At Cannes on next Tuesday it’s english sub-titled..." "To find his long lost son and food to survive the winter, the great bear king leads his clan down from the mountains and into the world of men. This is a CalArts graduation film by Lorenzo Fresta and I gotta say the guy is channeling early 80s anime so well with this 2D animated film.   If he did this fully in a computer then I take my hat off to him for nailing the look so well. In the current animated Guardians of the Galaxy series the team gets seperated and animated in various ways when they get stuck in some sort of dimensional trap.   I  do kinda wish the whole series was animated this like. Did you know there currently more than one Dinosaur based heavy metal bands? Due to lawyers and record labels there is now also Sauruxet: "In the beginning of 2011 Mirka Rantanen [1], the drummer and one of the founding members, drifted into a dispute between their record label Sony Music Entertainment [2] about the copyrights and trademarks of the characters. As a result, Rantanen formed a competing band called “Sauruxet”, with the people who played in the Hevisaurus live set-up. The court ordered “Sauruxet” to pay the record label €100,000 and legal fees. Legal documents stated that the rights for the characters always belonged to Sony Music Entertainment."
