SARASOTA, Fla. — The newest candidate challenging Secretary of State Katherine Harris
in her bid for Congress is truly an underdog: a border collie mix.
Percy the dog is running as a write-in candidate in the Republican primary.
His official campaign bio describes Percy as a compassionate conservative
who takes a hard-line with social parasites, particularly fleas and worms.
His past is free of sex scandals, due to "timely neutering."

Yes but what is his cat policy?
He probably doesn't like political fatcats. As for regular cats, well... :)

This sounds like the brainchild of a bored political science major. O_o

Several animals have passed classes and graduated (if recollection serves) in schools such as UCLA, including dogs and at least one hamster. So long as the work is turned in (done, of course, by enterprising students) the classes are so big that the teachers don't know all the students anyway.
You say a HAMSTER passed at UCLA (granted, with help, but still.) Don't these teachers pay attention to anything anymore?
I don't even want to think how dumbed-down that curriculum must be.
... It just means that the teachers never verified that the student was human. Students teamed up, sometimes three at a time, to send in unique work (so it wouldn't be flagged as copied) to pass the hamster.
'Course this is all something I heard several years ago from a teacher, so I could be mis-remembering.
New College of Florida had a canine student, Ghang. She was enrolled and taking classes... in a school where the student-teacher ratio was about 12:1.
Now, mind you, she was only -passing- classes taught by a very few professors... mostly the ones run by her owner, Dr. Lawrence Schoen.
That is my kinda dog. I wonder if he'll run for president in the 2004 election should he fail here? I mean, unlike Bush, he's housestrained, can maintain a train of thought for 3 whole seconds, and can speak when asked! Ruff! And unlike Gore, should he run again (God help us!), he can ACTUALLY SHOW EMOTION and has twice the charisma! ;)
Yep, I want Percey - not for congress, but for PRESIDENT!
Percey 2004!
