I always figured the more the merrier for holidays. So right now it's a tribute to the Maccabean miracle. Then in a few days it's gonna be The Feast of St. Nicolas. Onwards to the shortest day of the year, and then Christmas, and then, woot, New Year's Eve.

I love this season...

Me too! I celebrate whatever holidays friends/family celebrate. More happiness==good, especially around finals time when we need it the most.

Smile! The world could use another happy person.

i celebrate that for a week or two arround midwinter's eve most of the idiots who would otherwise wish to live in a world where we all go arround beating each other over the head get their heads out of where the sun don't shine and give the rest of us a little bit of a break.
it is good that we have a time of the year when we tell each other stories that remind us that it is possible to care about each other, smell the pine needles, and generaly enjoy the universe that rocks, trees and nontangable forces have enabled us to live in. a time for remembering to hug someone who doesn't see the gestalt of existence exactly the same way as one's self. (which is a pretty darn good thing considering how unlikely it is that any two self awair beings see anything quite exinactaly the same).
and i also remember a very probably universal origen for the idea of having a celebration arround the time of midwinters eve. which is to say to the rest of our primal ancesoral little village lost in time that remembers to be nice to the little spirit that lives down by the creek that everyone but everyone once upon a very loong time ago had a great great ever so great grandmother who lived it,
that hey, we've made it half way through the coldist, leanest, most difficult time of the year to survive through. and hay were all here, all of us that are. and so. that really is a big thing for everybody to celbrate and hug each other about.
whatever else, in our times now may have over the years and centuries and millinea gotten attatched to it.
so yah that is what i celibrate. and that scent of pine needles in the air is what tells the back of my mind that hey it IS that time, that rare, precious, ever so diversly blessed time, in the ever turning of the seasons ... ~;)
