Sicily. Any hopes that Michael had of finding peace in the bosom of his
family are quickly dashed. There are plenty of family tensions and
misunderstandings as well as a tender moment as Fluffy makes a profound
realization.' Woo, profound. The central character is a talking rabbit
in (I think) an otherwise human world. See the 'Upcoming Comics for

'A brilliant assault from the Underground against these favorites of the
funny animal set, ducks.' Actually, aside from the beautiful John Pound
front cover (M*ck** in German uniform and smiley armband has just shot
down D*n*ld with an anti-aircraft gun) and the fine Jim Boxell back
cover (characters from the stories eating duckburgers, ground on the
spot), they don't so much attack as ignore ducks. This is a 1979 comic,
perhaps a new printing, but as far as most of you reading this are
concerned it might as well be new. And if it were published today it
would be in the running for top anthro comic of the year.
George Metzger (*Moondog*, *Truckin'*, etc.) starts it off with Star
Rats in 'No Ducks!', a tale of spacers on leave on the sin planet Dante.
The wonderfully mad Hunt Emerson, my favorite British cartoonist (check
out his work on http://www.largecow.demon.co.uk/), has 'Large Cow
Comics', in which the inevitable process of evolution has led to the Mad
Bat Age and everybody has to flitter around and sleep upside down in a
belfry. Steve Leihaloa does a superb Moebius takeoff in 'The Underground
Cafeteria of Haré Cornelius', the most beautifully drawn story and
plotted with a decidedly Moebian feel. A fine nasty story of Stoned Wolf
by Tim Boxell, who used to do the most horrific horror stories in the
old undergrounds, but is more restrained here. Also shorter work by
Richard Larson, J. Michael Leonard, and Jim Schumeister. Most highly
recommended.
